Thanks, the problem is my current DVD player is very poor sound quality while
playing CD compare to my CD driver+DAC, so I sold it and prepare to up grade
for a multi-function DVD player, my concern is which format DVD-A? SACD has
better performance in audio, another concern is which one can play CD good
too. I will buy it from eBay or online shopping through internet in US then
hand carry back.
Unfortunately my KSA-100 has some cosmetic flaws during UPS transportaion, I
return it to UPS and got all money back(from UPS, not seller) so miss the
chance to use KSA-100.
I love old stuffs in analog system,those new products are in fancy outlook and
sound???

I don't know whether to choose DVD or SACD. Most of my software are CD's. I
only need a good CD player. However, I am planning to buy a DVD player for the
reason of watching movie (I think Blockbuster have DVD long time ago).
I think newer SACD players play DVD video as well. May not be a bad choice.
But whether DVD audio or SACD will win is not predictable. I guess it will end
up with which one is better in marketing (like VHS vs Beta, remember that?).
If I were you, I will go for the one that I have the most software.
Are you planning to buy those on eBay? The transporting part may not be as
strong as expected. Maybe consider this as well.
Krell power amp, must be very powerful. They say old Krell gives warm sond.
aare you using the old one?

right, its really fun viewing eBay, I watch eBay almost everyday TAD seldom
appeared may be due to Japanese products not popular in US studio monitor
system.
My first bid on a Krell poewer but packing carton damaged during transportion
cause faceplate scratched, I return it to UPS claim for poor handling and got
full refund, quite satisfied on their customer service.
I'm now a little puzzle to choose DVD Video/Audio or DVD/SACD player, any
suggestion appreciated.

No, I do not make my own gear (for now). My friend does buy stuff from eBay
and make his own speakers.
I am using Thiel speakers and ARC+ML amps. But I am dreaming about using TAD
speakers with DHS triod amp. But before that day, I will stay with my current
gears.
One time I bidded a Accuphase DP81(?) DAC and later the seeler found the
shipping will be over $200. He thought that was rediculous so he said I can
cancel this bid.What can I say? So far I only purchased a pair of Siemens 6DJ8
from eBay. Nothing more since then because the price is about the same if
buying those in Taiwan (no shipping fee). But it's a lot of fun viewing around.

I live in Taipei and place bid here, sometimes has to wake up in midnight to
monitor and bid at last minute on target stuff very exciting.
For heavy stuff send to my borther's US address then hand carry back, small
stuff direct to Taiwan by airmail parcel, I ever tried surface parcel for 30lb
(USPS limited 44lbs) took 40days to arrive, never have tax problem.
I bought vintage Heil AMT for high in MTM configuration with 2 x 6-1/2"
midbass and 2 x 10" for lowbass, 3way crossover at 220Hz, 2KHz cut off, each
midbass unit has its individual cabinet, Heil AMT in the middle independent
suspension by Aluminium rack to be front/rear open, lowbass in another
cabinet, front/rear buffer use 50mm MDF to minimize resonance, it took 4
months from design to complete, another 3months in corssover fine tune by real
listening.
Goodman, Tannoy, EV rare vintage alnico dirver not cheap (lots bidders), since
I haven't run tube amp so didn't attempted for it, I watch tube amp too may be
have a try some other day then Goodman.
Are you also DIY? share your experience too.

To RH:
YOu must now live in US. Much easier to get something from eBay. In Taiwan we
need to consider shipping cost. Therefore most of the time I just check the
items but did not bid.
DIY speakers? Are you using those Alnico units? I have a friend use Goodmans
alnico speakers and they sounds great. Can you share some experience here?

YH is right, eBay.com and audioreview.com are really good site.
I bought most of my car and home system gears from eBay.com like Sony MD
receiver, MD changer, Rockford, PPI Amp for car. Threshold, Accuphase amp,
kimber, MIT speaker cable for home. and even speaker drive unit to DIY speaker
system.
The used gear price is 1/4-1/5, and brand new is 1/2 compare to Taiwan street
price, but some hot vintage tube gears are high due to hard to find. just for
your reference.

Join member of this website (it's free) and check on second hand site. Or
check (www.ebay.com), it's for auction but will give you a brief idea about
the price (you may not be able to find what you want if nobody is selling it).
Or check (www.audioreview.com) and see what is popular (and its price) in the
market.
Normally second hand price is below half of its list price. But it is not the
golden rule.

主編你好 我目前使用的�?源是Theta Miles,前級是Ayre K-1,後級是ARC Class 120,喇叭
則是AE 2 II. 我的空間寬約3.6米,長約6米,聆聽位置在4.5米的位置,喇叭背�?為落地窗,
目前狀況為高音較亮而低音不足,我所使用的線材都屬厚聲線,不知是喇叭天性是然,或是器

I just share some thoughts with you. I think here is open to any discussion.
Maybe you would like to share some experience of home theater with us.
Be honest with you, I think new equipments are worse in average. Second hand
gears may be a better bargain for you. But be careful to choose a right second
hand gears seller. One good idea is to look at second hand web site. Then you
will have a better idea how much you should offer (don't let the sales cheat
you).
